Ars Nova

Ars Nova was a rock and roll/classical crossbreed that formed in NY in 1967 around college students of the Mannes University of Music. The music group primarily comprised Wyatt Day time on acoustic guitar, keyboards, and vocals; Jon Pierson on trombone and vocals; Expenses Folwell on trumpet and vocals; Jonathan Raskin on bass, vocals, and acoustic guitar; Giovanni Papalia on acoustic guitar, and Maury Baker on percussion. Elektra maker Paul A. Rothchild got credit for the finding, and after putting your signature on them, known as them “probably the most thrilling thing because the Doorways.” The music group released its debut recording in Apr 1968 and was profiled within the June 28, 1968, problem of LIFE journal, but the buzz didn’t may actually help. The recording failed to graph, as well as the music group reorganized around Day time, Pierson, guitarist Sam Brownish, trumpeter Jimmy Owens, bassist Artwork Koenig, and drummer Joseph Hunt. There is a second recording, Sunlight & Shadows, in June 1969.
