Acquiring their cues through the Posies and Teenage Fanclub, Army Navy started producing sugary, melody-driven force play 2004. Vocalist Justin Kennedy released the group upon his proceed to LA, having remaining Seattle after playing alongside Ben Gibbard (the near future frontman of Loss of life Cab for Cutie) in the music group Pinwheel. By using bassist Benjamin Gaffin and guitarist Louie Schultz, Kennedy started shopping his fresh materials around California, ultimately piquing the eye of maker Adam Lasus. The group decamped to Lasus’ studio room to record The Fever Area with iconic drummer Pete Thomas (of Elvis Costello & the Sights popularity), who offered as a short-term percussionist. Missouri indigenous Douglas Randall climbed aboard like a long term drummer following the album’s conclusion, permitting the group to try out displays alongside the Arctic Monkeys and Wolfmother to get the record. Military Navy’s shiny, zippy music gained some support from Western Coast r / c like KEXP, and a flurry of press placements — especially film soundtracks (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Beastly) and Television shows (Weeds, The OC) — helped spread their music to a nationwide viewers. When it arrived time to come back to the studio room, Kennedy and business had preserved up enough cash to self-finance their personal recording sessions, that have been held this year 2010. Adam Lasus reprised his part as producer, as well as the Last Place — another recording in the traditional pop mildew — premiered in middle-2011. In 2014, Military Navy returned using their third studio room recording, The Wilderness Inside.
