Argent

Following the Zombies split up, keyboardist/songwriter Rod Argent formed his own band in 1969, which incorporated even more classical, jazz, and art rock and roll influences relative to Argent’s musical training. The group’s various other members had been guitarist/songwriter Russ Ballard, bassist Jim Rodford, and drummer Bob Henrit. Argent’s initial two albums, Argent and Band of Hands, received a good quantity of important acclaim, but their genuine breakthrough was included with 1972’s ALTOGETHER Now, which included the very best Five smash “Keep YOUR MIND Up”; In Deep created a minor strike in “God Gave Rock and roll ‘N’ Roll for you,” that was included in Kiss in 1992. By 1974, Ballard got created his songwriting abilities enough to keep for a single career (Three Pet Night had a high Ten one in 1971 along with his “Liar,” from Argent), and was changed by guitarist John Verity and string participant John Grimaldi. Without Ballard, the group shed its concentrate and indulged its tendencies toward expanded art rock and roll passages and improvisational solos to relatively excessive amounts. Argent split up in 1976; Rodford became a member of the Kinks, while Argent himself documented several single albums and became an archive producer, dealing with Tanita Tikaram, amongst others.
