Architectural is a pseudonym of Barcelona-based techno musician Juan Rico. While Rico could very well be most widely known for launching darker, harder-edged commercial techno beneath the name Reeko, his are Architectural is even more roomy and minimal, with ambient and dub affects. As the name suggests, his monitors are carefully organised and deliberate, however there’s still a feeling of fluidity and adventurousness to them. Architectural debuted anonymously this year 2010, with some singles released with a label writing the moniker. Various other Architectural singles made an appearance on Paradigma Musik (“Dreams”) and Semantica Information (“Peacetime”). In 2013, Oscar Mulero’s Pole Recordings released The Blue Record, acknowledged to both Reeko and Architectural. Arriving in 2014, the dual CD Secret Section (credited exclusively to Architectural and released on his eponymous label) included one disk of new materials and a compilation from the initial four Architectural 12″ EPs. Architectural 05 also made an appearance that calendar year, as do a divide 12″ EP with Kessell on Granulart Recordings. The 3rd Architectural full-length, Amour, made an appearance on Wolfskuil Information in 2015. The 10″ one Seven made an appearance on Architectural in 2016, accompanied by the Elastic Designs EP on Non Series. A far more experimental album entitled Metropolitan Opera made an appearance in early 2017.
