Appendix Out

Scottish rural folk combo Appendix Away was shaped in middle-1994 by singer/guitarist Ali Roberts and bassist/violinist Dave E. While at a Palace Brothers concert the next year, Roberts handed down Will Oldham an Appendix Out demonstration cassette, and in early 1996 Oldham released the one “Ice Age group” on his Palace label; weeks afterwards the group — today additionally including cellist Louise D. and drummer Eva Peck — also added material towards the Up Information 4×4 compilation. “Well-Lit Tonight,” half of the Creeping Bent label divide single using the Leopards, briefly preceded the 1997 discharge of Appendix Out’s outstanding debut record The Rye Bears a Poison; guitarist/percussionist Gareth Eggie and flutist/keyboardist Tom C. became a member of the loose-knit lineup for the 1999 follow-up Daylight Cost savings. Night Is Improving. which presented a looser, even more dynamic audio, was released in 2001.
