b. 11 June 1964, Finland. A brilliantly gifted clarinettist and saxophonist, Sarpilå has generated a strong status throughout European countries. He made an excellent impact along with his appearance in the 1988 Duke Ellington Convention, kept that 12 months in Britain, where he made an appearance like a soloist and section member within the orchestra aimed by Bob Wilber. Sarpilå takes on within the clarinet custom which Benny Goodman was the founding dad and he mixes specialized mastery with a solid feeling for the music from the golf swing era. His single style is liquid, demanding and usually filled up with interesting, flawlessly carried out ideas.
