A proper traveled musician Mahaut spent amount of time in Amsterdam, Paris and Dresden. Around 1760 he fled lenders in Amsterdam and retired to a monastery in France. Being a flutist Mahaut’s technique was extremely advanced and acclaimed. The orchestral compositions had been also well-structured and astute.
