Antje Weithaas

Violinist Antje Weithaas began lessons on her behalf instrument at age group four. She examined with Werner Scholz on the Hans Eisler University of Music in Berlin, and became a teacher of violin there in 2004. She was the champion of several tournaments, like the Kreisler Competition in 1987, the Bach Competition in 1988, as well as the Hannover International Violin Competition in 1991. Weithaas’ repertoire runs from Baroque to contemporary, and she frequently performs functions by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Ligeti, and Gubaidulina, amongst others. Weithaas provides performed numerous orchestras, like the LA Philharmonic, the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Symphony, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Philharmonia Orchestra, and made an appearance being a soloist with such conductors as Sakari Oramo, Yakov Kreizberg, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Neville Marriner, and Yuri Temirkanov. She’s documented for CAvi-music, CPO, Es-dur, and Harmonia Mundi.
