Even though Blake Babies split up in early 1991, simply as they appeared to be around the verge of success within the post-Nevermind alternative music scene, there have been simply no underlying personality conflicts or artistic disagreements. John Strohm and Freda Like simply wished to go back home. The few had relocated to Boston using their indigenous Indiana to wait the Berklee College of Music, but experienced gotten sidetracked if they created the Blake Infants with vocalist/bassist Juliana Hatfield in 1987. During the period of their four-album profession, Strohm had produced like a songwriter to the idea that he could business lead his own music group, when he and Like resettled in Bloomington, IN, the guitarist and drummer created Antenna with regional music artists Jacob Smith on bass and Vess Ruhtenberg on second acoustic guitar. Strohm apparently experienced built up a significant backlog of tunes during the later on times of the Blake Infants because Antenna’s 1st recording, Sway, was documented and released significantly less than a year from then on group split. A definite continuation from Blake Infants tunes like “Lady in a Package,” the tunes on Sway are lyrically dark but sunnily melodic jangle pop, with Ruhtenberg’s tempo guitar developing a very much fuller audio than Strohm and Love’s earlier trio ever endured. The twin-guitar interplay of Strohm and Ackerman recalls both Tv and My Bloody Valentine, as well as the music — this time around all Strohm/Smith co-compositions — rock and roll using a newfound verve and self-confidence. Unfortunately, Antenna finished at that time, with 1993’s (FOR THE PRESENT TIME) EP portion as their farewell. Reunited with Appreciate on drums, the three brand-new music, specially the storming name track, are one of the better items Antenna ever do. Once the group break up, Smith and Like got married, experienced a child, and created the countryish pop group the Mysteries of Existence with Vulgar Boatmen keyboardist Dale Lawrence. Strohm quickly created another short-lived music group, the actually darker and noisier Velo-Deluxe, before finally getting into an alt-country single profession within the mid-’90s.
