She started her profession in the first 70s like a drummer within the studio room, and supported several Jamaican superstars moving through NY. Like a soloist Brisset caused Lloyd Barnes, who released her debut, ‘What A Sense’. While operating at Wackies she experienced several Studio room One legends, like the Heptones, Alton Ellis, Sugars Minott, Horace Andy, Jackie Mittoo and Marcia Griffiths. Influenced by Griffiths and her association using the I-Threes, Brisset created Sistren. The all-female line-up was just ever recognized by their 1st brands, a move interpreted with the mass media as an effort to negate any feasible slave-master lineage. Alice, Annette, Cori, Donna, Lori, Pamela, Phylis and Rebecca released their musical profession in the middle-80s.
