Anna Guo

Because of her virtuosity, Anna Guo is among the world’s ideal yang-qin (a Chinese language hammered dulcimer) players. She performed in China under her delivery name Guo Min-qing before emigrating to Canada in 1996 where she used the greater Western-friendly name of Anna Guo. She qualified prospects an active profession like a performer and instructor of Chinese language traditional music. Small is well known of Guo’s Chinese language career. She’s been energetic as a normal musician because the 1960s. She led the Shanghai Women’s Silk String Quintet from 1985 until her departure and in addition taught in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The group toured in Asia and European countries and recorded several albums which are very difficult to find beyond China. Guo also released two single CDs in her indigenous country in the first ‘90s. In 1996 Guo acquired her Canadian citizenship and resolved in Toronto, Ontario where she resumed teaching and quickly shaped the Dunhuang Chamber Outfit with which she trips North America. She’s released two books on yang-qin technique which have become cursus materials for students from the device. In 2001 she became a member of a go for roster of Asian-Canadian music artists appearing for the Montreal label Oliver Sudden and released the single album Chinese language Traditional Yang-Qin Music, her most accessible recording even today.
