Animals as Leaders

After playing for a couple of years in the “directly” music world as an associate of the distinctively virtuosic Washington, D.C.-centered metalcore band Reflux, seven- and eight-string guitar wizard Tosin Abasi was asked to record a single album from the group’s then-record label, Prosthetic Records, after the group disbanded. Initially, Abasi dropped on the lands that to take action will be “egotistical,” but he ultimately relented and founded a fresh entity named Pets as Market leaders (influenced by Daniel Quinn’s 1992 anthropocentric book Ishmael) to operate as this single task. An eponymous debut recording followed in Apr of 2009 and noticed Abasi managing all acoustic guitar and bass songs, while drums and additional synthesized sound files were designed by engineer Misha Mansoor.
