Don’t allow her insufficient albums fool you: vocalist Angela Strehli can be an greatly gifted singer and songwriter, a Tx blues historian, impresario and lover. Created November 22, 1945 in Lubbock, Tx, Strehli comes from the same college of hippie folksingers that offered rise for some of Americana music’s most gifted authors, people like Jimmie Dale Gilmore and her sibling Al Strehli. Elevated in Lubbock and influenced by the mixture of blues, nation and rock and roll & move she noticed on West Tx early-’60s radio, she discovered harmonica and performed bass before learning to be a full-time vocalist. Even though her recordings are scant, Strehli spends an excellent portion of every year performing concert events in European countries and around the U.S. and Canada. It is possible to hear Strehli, who’s right now based in BAY AREA, in every her glory on Spirit Tremble (1987, Antone’s Information), Dreams BECOME A REALITY, with Lou Ann Barton and Marcia Ball (Antone’s, 1990) and Blonde and Blue (1993, Rounder Information). Of the, Blonde and Blue appears to greatest showcase her skills like a vocalist and author of quality tracks. Strehli, a devoted student from the blues along with a razor-sharp blues historican, also helped build the Austin blues picture with club-owner Clifford Antone and music artists like Kim Wilson as well as the Vaughan brothers; she resurfaced in 1998 with Deja Blue.
