Orchestral pop singer/songwriter Andrew Morgan was created in the Kansas City suburb of Leawood, Kansas — the son of the amateur folk musician, he spent his childhood enthusiastic about the Beatles but upon entering the University of Kansas in 1997 joined up with an alt-country band, the Buick Sixes. Annoyed by his insufficient insight in the group’s path and songwriting, Morgan quickly quit to instruct himself piano — then enlisted friend Cully Western to create Bound by Nothing at all, a chamber pop combo additionally offering Morgan’s young sister Sarah on viola and Carolyn Anderson on cello. After a yr of playing regional pubs and coffeehouses, Bound by Nothing at all came into the Lawrence, Kansas studio room the Bottleneck to record a demonstration with engineer Matt LaPoint — Morgan and Western then spent another year learning in England, developing a new edition of the group with cellist Shira Katz and violinist Lili Zhang. As well as the fresh lineup’s abroad live looks, Bound by Nothing’s unique demo attracted the interest from the Oxford-based indie Shifty Disco, which portrayed curiosity about a full-length LP — Morgan started composing a batch of brand-new music, but as the institution calendar year drew to an in depth and their money dwindled, he and Western world were forced to come back to Lawrence. Weeks into his following semester house, Morgan fell out of college and shifted to NEW YORK, dissolving Bound by Nothing at all and forming a fresh project, Punctured Bike — with LaPoint, he documented seven tracks in a LA studio room before relocating to Chicago in 2001. Although Beulah frontman Kilometers Kurosky decided to create a full-length recording, talks using the Velocette label eventually floor to a halt and Morgan disbanded Punctured Bike and only a solo profession in middle-2002. Immediately after, LaPoint got employment at vocalist/songwriter Elliott Smith’s fledgling L.A. studio room New Monkey; after learning of Morgan’s complications landing an archive deal, Smith provided him a few days of free of charge studio period — the brand new Monkey sessions finished up extending across six weeks, and Morgan finally laid to tape lots of the tracks he began composing in Britain years before. Then came back to Lawrence to put up the finishing details, narrowly escaping loss of life whenever a tornado ruined West’s house — the completed LP, Misadventures in Radiology, finally made an appearance for the English indie Broken Equine in the summertime of 2005, showing up in the U.S. on Sonic Growth in the springtime of 2005. Morgan came back in ’09 2009 with Make sure you Kid, Remember.
