Andreas Kneller

Kneller is well known for couple of compositions but was younger sibling of Sir Godfrey Kneller the family portrait designer. He was also wedded to one from the daughters of Reincken and offered around the committee that analyzed J.S. Bach as well as others in 1720 for the organist placement in the Jakobikirche in Hamburg. He was asked on several occasions never to only check organists but numerous instruments aswell. The genre of his compositions included preludes and fugues and items with tocatta features. One assortment of organ works contains eight variants by Kneller on “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland.”
