Biography
Time for music following a 17-season hiatus, where she raised a family group, in 1999, Andrea Brachfeld quickly found where she got left off. Using a self-produced Compact disc, Appreciated Dreams, in 1999, she demonstrated her mastery of Latin and post-bop jazz. Brachfeld’s musical abilities have been apparent since earliest storage. Learning the piano for four years before switching towards the flute at age ten, she went to the SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL of Music and Artwork, where she fulfilled and used Noel Pointer, Nat Adderely Jr., Dave Valentin, and Pal Williams. By age 16, she got played her initial jazz gig and got started composing her very own tunes. She continuing to give food to her quest to understand regarding the flute and music at Jazzmobile workshops, where her instructors included Jimmy Heath, and Jazz Connections workshops, where Yusef Lateef, who trained flute, released her to globe music. Graduating from senior high school in 1973, Brachfeld enrolled on the Manhattan College of Music, where her instructors included Harold Bennett and Andrew Lolya. A season afterwards, she received the renowned Louis Armstrong Prize for excellent jazz pupil. She also researched with Hubert Laws and regulations, Eddie Daniels, and George Coleman. From the middle-’70s, Brachfeld was significantly attracted to Latin music. Furthermore to using Tipica NY, the Benito Sextet, Charanga ’76, Tipica Ideal, and Joe Quijana, she sat along with Latin music legends including Ray Barretto, Mchito, as well as the past due Tito Puente.
