b. André Echkyan, 24 Oct 1907, Meudon, France, d. 9 August 1972, Alicante, Spain. A self-taught clarinettist and alto saxophonist, Ekyan became popular in France in the first 30s. He also performed in London, with Jack port Hylton, and produced many recordings. The music artists with whom he worked well included Django Reinhardt, documenting with him in the past due 30s and once again in 1950. He also used Coleman Hawkins, and Benny Carter. A protected and competent participant, Ekyan was essential in helping pass on swing period jazz design throughout France and other areas of Europe.
