Biography
Merging jazz and classical elements with tips of her Middle Eastern background, pianist and composer Anat Fort shows an early capability to move easily in every of those music worlds. Delivered in Israel, she began monitoring traditional music at age five, along with a lifelong desire for improvisation resulted in her searching for the jazz plan at William Paterson College or university in NJ. Pursuing her graduation from this program in 1996, Fort shifted to NY to review improvisation with Paul Bley and structure with Harold Seletsky. Her initial record, the atmospheric Peel off, made an appearance in 1999 from Orchard Information. A session documented with drummer Paul Motian, bassist Ed Schuller, and clarinetist Perry Robinson in 2004 was ultimately released in 2007 as AN EXTENDED Tale by ECM Information. A dynamic composer and arranger, Fort proceeds to create her house in NY while touring with her Anat Fort Trio, which include bassist Gary Wang and drummer Roland Schneider.
