Anachronic Jazz Band

The idea because of this French group is indeed logical that it’s surprising that it had been not carried out previously. The trad jazz non-et (which include four horns and a five-piece tempo section with sousaphone and string bass) performed the melodies and occasionally the chord constructions of bop music to hilarious impact, producing the ’40s and ’50s contemporary tunes sound as though they were becoming performed in 1928. They documented one recording for the French Open up label and one for the German Calig organization, playing exclusive renditions of such improbable music as “Yardbird Suite,” “STORED Home,” “Move,” “Pleasure Spring,” as well as “Giant Actions.” Before their eventual separation the group (including trumpeter Patrick Artero, trombonist Daniel Barda and Marc Richard and Andre Villeger on reeds) performed at a number of European celebrations, but unfortunately by no means in america. Their two recordings (a compliation, Anthropology, premiered in ’09 2009) are very uncommon and collectable, and one actually features guest looks by vocalist Beryl Bryden.
