Ambrose Sam

b. c.1919, Opelousas, Louisiana, USA, d. November 1995. A pioneer from the Creole accordion, Ambrose Sam was a modern of zydeco legends Clifton Chenier and Wilson ‘Boozoo’ Chavis. His dad was an achieved accordion participant, as was his sibling, Herbert Sam, who liked a brief single profession with Arhoolie Information in the first 60s. Through the battle years he was used in a bomb manufacturer while continuing to try out at regional dances in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It had been Ambrose Sam who was simply the first ever to export the zydeco audio to America’s western coastline, and he also stated to have already been the original author of Chavis’ strike record, ‘Paper IN MY OWN Shoe’. Ultimately, he came back to Opelousas within the 70s to greatly help on his dad’s plantation. In the first 80s he produced his initial recordings. Six music acknowledged to Ambrose Sam’s Aged Time Zydeco had been included as you aspect of Arhoolie’s Zydeco, Quantity 2 compilation.
