Amadu Bansang Jobarteh

The musical traditions and historical recollections of West Africa are expressed through the music of kora player and vocalist Amadu Bansang Jobarteh. Although much less popular as younger music artists in his family members — Toumani Diabate and Sidiki Diabate — Jobarteh is constantly on the expand within the musical customs of his homeland. Relating to Rootsworld, Jobarteh’s “music reaches once historic and fresh, praising the heroes and benefactors of his house and family members, telling the annals of his people, and carrying it out within some structures that keep room for specific manifestation through improvisation.” The child of the griot dad, Jobarteh moved along with his family members to Bansang, Gambia, where he was trained to try out the kora. Jobarteh’s record, Tabara, showcases his abilities as a single performer.
