Altenberg Trio Wien

Comprising Claus-Christian Schuster (piano), Amiram Ganz (violin), and Alexander Gebert (cello), the Altenberg Trio Wien produced its debut through the Salzburg Mozart Week (January 1994). Mostly of the full-time piano trios in the wonderful world of chamber music, this Viennese group offers earned a status as daring and constant: its repertory contains, in addition to numerous works modified from additional chamber press (piano quartets and quintets, duos, triple concertos, vocal chamber music), no less than 200 piano trios, included in this newly commissioned functions. The group offers offered as trio-in-residence of Vienna’s Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde and of the Conservatory of the town of Vienna, where they provide a course for chamber music majors. In addition they appear regularly in the International Brahms Event in Mürzzuschlag, Austria, where they provide grasp classes for youthful ensembles. In 1999 they received the Robert Schumann Honor of the town of Zwickau, whose additional recent winners possess included Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Alfred Brendel. Their 2000 documenting of American trios by Ives, Copland, and Bernstein received Amsterdam’s Edison Award.
