Formed within the Christian stronghold of Hardenberg, Holland, death steel band Altar emerged alongside the mission of complicated the laws and doctrines of arranged religion. Vocalist Edwin Kelder, guitarists Marcel Truck Haafe and Bert Huisjes, bassist Nils Vos, and drummer Marco Arends started their counter-crusade with 1992’s And God Made Satan to be blamed for His Errors demonstration, before debuting in 1994 using the Youngsters against Christ record. Making use of their uncompromising brutality, these quickly endeared the music group to local supporters, and 1996’s even more diverse Ego Artwork (featuring brand-new guitarist Marcel Verdurmen) would further increase their account, culminating within a slot machine at that year’s Dynamo Celebration.
