Perhaps one of the most important choro flutists ever, Altamiro Carrilho come up with a good virtuosity and an convenience for improvisation that in his 58 years seeing that a professional musician (completed in 2001, having recorded more than 110 albums) brought him the compliment of both classical and popular renowned music artists, plus a consolidated reputation. His brand was the insertion of excerpts of traditional parts into choro, and vice versa, as he do within the cadenza from the Concerto #2 in D Main KV 314 prior to the Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre (1976). Being a traditional music soloist, he performed lead on many orchestra parts like Mozart’s Concert in G on the Teatro Municipal perform Rio de Janeiro (1972). His record Clássicos em Choro was honored with the Villa-Lobos trophy as Greatest Instrumental Record, and his Clássicos em Choro No. 2 earned the yellow metal record. In 1993, he was honored with the Prêmio Clear as the Greatest Arranger of Instrumental Music for his focus on the record Altamiro Carrilho — 50 Anos de Choro, and, in 1997, he earned it again to discover the best Instrumental Record, Flauta Maravilhosa. Having four years of music artists and conductors in his genealogical tree, learning to be a flutist at age group five was relatively organic for Carrilho. Since he was nine, he previously started working due to his father’s disease, but he continuing to review music during the night. At 11, he became a member of the Banda Lira de Arion playing the snare drum. When he was 16, he shifted to Niterówe (Rio de Janeiro) and became a normal at the air shows offered by Dante Santoro and Benedito Lacerda. His improvisational abilities quickly brought him invites to become listed on the organizations led by César Moreno, Canhoto, and Rogério Guimarãsera. He documented for the very first time in 1943, on the Moreira da Silva recording. His 1st record like a single artist was documented six years later on, along with his choro “Flauteando na Chacrinha.” His personal regional (little group) was created in 1950 to just work at the Rádio Guanabara. IN-MAY 1951, he became a member of the Regional perform Canhoto, changing Benedito Lacerda.
