Biography

The Manchester duo of Richard Woolgar and Gly Thomas happened once the promoters of an area club challenged the pair to compose an hour’s worth of music. Inspired by New Purchase and Depeche Setting, the two got the name Alpinestarsfrom Thomas’ hill bicycle and proceeded to meet up the challenge. Not merely was the efficiency successful, but Alpinestars the action quickly released an EP, Much less Vegas, in 1999. In just a year, in addition they issued the next EPs Silicon Chick and Kitzbuhel Weekend, before their debut full-length, B.A.S.We.C, in early 2001. In middle-2002, they released the follow-up, Light Noise, which noticed a much better focus on vocals and live instrumentation and highlighted a visitor appearance by Placebo vocalist Brian Molko.
