Chicago punk-pop combo Allister was formed in 1995 by vocalist/drummer Tim Rogner and guitarist Johnny Hamada, longtime classmates who first teamed within a cover band organized to try out their school talent display. The duo extended to some trio the next season after Hamada fulfilled bassist Eric “Skippy” Mueller on the School of Illinois, and in early 1997 the group performed their initial live time under their first name, Phineas Gage. They ultimately rechristened themselves Allister following a character in the children’s plan You Can’t DO THIS on Television; appropriately, the band’s 1998 Drive-Thru label debut 7″ was entitled You Can’t DO THIS on Vinyl fabric.
