Allan Jones


Born in Aged Forge, Pa (just outdoors Scranton), Allan Jones studied performing during his twenties in Paris. After coming back from Paris to america, Jones began employed in different operettas. In 1933, Jones 1st appeared for the Broadway stage playing a job in Roberta. This is followed by becoming solid in another musical, Bitter Lovely, in 1934. Following that, Jones shifted to the silver screen, earning a little part within the film Reckless in 1935. That same yr, he performed a short, yet memorable music “Only” inside a Night in the Opera, the popular Marx Brothers humor. Leading roles adopted, including shows in Show Motorboat in 1936 along with a Trip to the Races in 1937. In 1938, Jones and wife Irene Hervey became parents to Jack port Jones. Allan Jones became best-known during this time period for his personal tune “The Donkey Serenade,” which he performed within the film The Firefly. In 1945, after starring in Honeymoon vacation Forward, Jones became in an discussion with MGM manager Louis B. Mayer. The battle led to Jones departing Hollywood and becoming a member of the nightclub circuit. While on the nightclub circuit, he’d often perform along with his boy. Within the ’50s, Jones toured america within the musical Men & Dolls. Within the ’70s, he also worked well and toured with Guy of La Mancha. After touring Australia in 1992, he came back to NY. On June 27, 1992, he passed away in NEW YORK following a struggle with lung tumor. In 2001, a assortment of Allan Jones’ tracks was released for the Donkey Serenade on ASV/Living Period Records.
