Something of Britain’s early-’80s Batcave goth punk motion, the North London-based Alien Sex Fiend were led with the eccentric Nick Wade, better referred to as the macabre Nik Fiend. A staple from the London picture as an associate of such fairly obscure groups because the Earwigs and Mr. & Mrs. Demeanour, he produced his documenting debut beneath the name Demon Preacher; other short-lived tasks implemented before he produced Alien Sex Fiend in 1982 with wife and synth participant Christine (aka Mrs. Fiend), guitarist Yaxi Highrizer (blessed David Adam), and drummer Johnny “Ha Ha” Freshwater. Mixing the theatrical horror-movie antics of Alice Cooper using the menacing synthesizer pulse of Suicide, Alien Sex Fiend debuted using the one “Disregard the Machine,” a popular among goth membership denizens; the full-length Who’s Been Sleeping in my own Brain? made an appearance in 1983. Some indie chart strikes implemented in 1984, including “R.We.P.”, “Deceased and Buried,” and “E.S.T. (Visit to the Moon)”; the achievement of the record Acid solution Bath further elevated the group’s presence, and in Japan, Alien Sex Fiend became main stars, leading to the 1985 live discharge Liquid Mind in Tokyo. Following departure of Johnny Ha Ha, the group continuing being a trio to record 1985’s bleak Optimum Security.
