Biography
A performer since youth, R&B musician Alicia Myers earned a talent competition in her indigenous Detroit at age 10, when she and her sibling Jackie dueted on the cover of Ashford & Simpson’s “Ain’t NOTHING BEATS genuine,” a Motown common popularized by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. The Myers siblings performed in rings jointly, but Jackie ultimately joined Chairmen from the Plank, while Alicia became an intrinsic member, a songwriter, and periodic front side person, in Al Hudson & the Companions. She made an instantaneous impact within the group because the co-writer and co-lead vocalist from the 1979 solitary “YOU ARE ABLE TO DO It.” Following a group name modification to One Method, she continuing to lead until 1981, when she produced her single debut with MCA — exactly the same label to which Way was authorized. From 1981 through 1984, she released four albums of advanced, funk-laced R&B: Alicia, Alicia Once again, I Misled You THIS TIME AROUND, and I Appreciate. Three singles, which included Hudson and/or fellow A PROVEN WAY member Kevin McCord, handled Billboard’s R&B graph: the gospel crossover “I wish to MANY THANKS,” the quantity five strike “You Get the very best from Me (State, Say, State),” and “Gratitude.” Additionally, recording cut “IN THE EVENT THAT YOU Play Your Credit cards Right” found a house in quiet surprise playlists. Myers hardly ever recorded following the middle-’80s, though she continuing to execute. In 2011, she released Satisfaction, co-produced with Surface’s David Conley.
