Chicago singer/songwriter Alice Peacock was immersed in performing young. Her grandfather Fritz Gnass was an acting professional in Germany, showing up in many movies including Fritz Lang’s M; her grandmother was a cabaret composer; her dad acted in repertory theatre in the 1960s; and her mom acted in film and tv. Growing up inside a big family members, Peacock was subjected to diverse musical designs; she paid attention to one sister’s ’70s hard rock and roll and another sister’s country-rock, in addition to her mother’s Burl Ives and Johnny Money records. While going to university at Lawrence University or college in Appleton, WI, she became a member of the university or college jazz music group and in addition performed having a cover music group and do some jingle function. It was during this time period that Alice found out a enthusiasm for traditional jazz, blues, and requirements; she also discovered herself thinking about folk and bluegrass. After university, she relocated to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA and sang back-up vocals with an R&B music group known as E.C. Scott and Smoke cigarettes; however, she experienced musically stifled and relocated to Chicago. After many failed attempts to place a music group together, Peacock began playing by herself and composing her very own highly personal materials, drawing motivation from Joni Mitchell and Carole Ruler. It’s tough to label Peacock a folk, rock and roll, or nation performer, since she actually is really a little bit of everything. She released her debut Compact disc, Real Day, on her behalf personal label, Peacock Music, in early 1999; solid word-of-mouth and beneficial press resulted in the album becoming found for wider distribution in 2000 by Aware/Columbia. She produced her major-label debut in 2002 having a self-titled work that discovered John Gorka, John Mayer, and Indigo Woman Emily Saliers producing guest looks. In 2006, the ambitious recording Who I Am discovered her back again on Peacock Music, but this time around in cooperation using the major label Common.
