An excellent bop-oriented flutist, Ali Ryerson may be the little girl of guitarist Artwork Ryerson. She began on flute at age group eight and acquired extensive classical schooling, graduating from Hartt University at the School of Hartford. Nevertheless, Ryerson developed a solid curiosity about jazz and it has preserved a versatile profession, playing both traditional and jazz. Ryerson spent 3 years freelancing in Belgium and became a high studio participant in NY. She performed with Artwork Farmer, Lou Donaldson, Maxine Sullivan, and Stephane Grappelli, amongst others, and has documented two sets being a head for Bob Thiele’s Crimson Baron label and many excellent pieces for Concord.
