Algia Mae Hinton

Piedmont blues performer Algia Mae Hinton was created in 1929 in Johnston State, NC; the girl of Ollie O’Neal (an area story whose musical abilities were so remarkable that many thought she’d produced a pact using the devil), she started playing acoustic guitar at age group nine, so when a teenager was a fixture at region dances and home celebrations. A gifted buckdancer in addition to musician, Hinton spent the greater section of her existence enduring seasonal plantation work; following the tragically premature loss of life of her spouse, she was remaining to improve their seven kids alone. She didn’t make her professional debut until 1978, showing up at the NEW YORK Folklife Festival; following that, she continued to consider the stage in the Country wide Folk Event, the Chicago University or college Folk Festival, and also Carnegie Hall, and in 1992 was honored using the NEW YORK Folk Heritage Award. In 1997, Hinton finally released her debut LP, Honey Babe.
