Alfred Van Straten

b. 20 Sept 1905, London, Britain, d. 4 Dec 1988, London, Britain. Truck Straten was among three musician brothers (Alf on tenor saxophone, Joe on alto and Leon on violin). They performed under Leon’s command, first documenting as Vehicle’s Ten around the Edison Bell Champion label in 1926. The staff also included Maximum Goldberg (trumpet), Maximum Bacon (drums) and Jay Wilbur (piano). The music group, now known just as Vehicle Straten And His Orchestra, opened up in the Ambassador Golf club in London, documenting on Duophone, after that in the Riviera Golf club as well as the Green Recreation area Resort (1926-28) with Claridge’s (1929-30), where time that they had came back to Edison Bell for three songs. Leon quit the management in 1931 to be an osteopath, handing the reins to Alf, who required the music group into Quaglino’s Cafe for any 10-12 months residency, and producing one Parlophone record in 1939.
