Alexis Taylor

Best known while Hot Chip’s clear-voiced frontman, Alexis Taylor also pursued a single career while an introspective vocalist/songwriter. Taylor’s debut, Rubbed Out, found its way to 2008 and discovered him trading his band’s percolating electropop to get more romantic, frequently acoustic fare. His responsibilities with Warm Chip and his additional task, About Group, held him occupied until 2014, when he resurfaced using the likewise mild and reflective Await Barbarians, which presented him on every device except strings. For 2016’s Piano, Taylor documented a couple of first songs and addresses arranged for piano and vocals at Hackney Street Studios with Shuta Shinoda. The next year, two partner albums came: Pay attention with Piano, which combined Taylor’s tracks with efforts from performers including Green Gartside, Jennifer Herrema, Papa M, and Brian DeGraw, and Pay attention With(out) Piano, which highlighted the task of Taylor’s collaborators independently.
