Alex Winston

A classically trained opera singer and a previous starting act for Chuck Berry, with affects ranging from Small Richard to PJ Harvey, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Winston isn’t easy and simple designer to pigeonhole. Given birth to and elevated in Detroit, MI, Winston was motivated by her parents to pursue her musical ambitions. At age group seven, she started hearing Carole Ruler and Laura Nyro while playing your guitar with her dad in the cellar of their house, and her mom once snuck her out of college to go to the Motown museum. After shifting to NY, she began carrying out at various night clubs, backed Ted Nugent on his U.S. tour, and teamed up with Chris and Drew Peters (Dark Eyed Peas) on her behalf debut EP, From the Origins in 2007. She’s since released many EPs including 2010’s The Cellar Covers, a assortment of interpretations of songs by Mumford and Sons, the Rolling Rocks, and Jack port Peñate, and 2011’s Sister Wife, made by the Knocks (Ellie Goulding). Winston shipped the full-length Ruler Con in 2012.
