Alex Reece

Though he’s most thinking about acid house and early Detroit techno, Alex Reece found prominence within the mid-’90s being a jungle star. His curiosity about techno started in the past due ’80s, when acidity house was well-known. Reece gradually gained enough money to get turntables along with a good vinyl collection. Then started DJing and proved helpful for Basement Information in 1992, anatomist for Polish Doctor. Stopping his work to focus on producing his very own music, Reece first attempted his hands at home (documenting with sibling Oscar as Exodus), but discovered it as well formulaic. He understood that there is a lot more to explore in jungle/drum’n’bass, therefore he begun to test. His initial produces appeared over the Sinister, Innovative Wax, and Shifting Shadow brands, but Reece produced his name with Goldie’s Metalheadz Information. Singles like “BASICS” and “Pulp Fiction” — using its brand lurching bass series — became jungle criteria, showcasing his minimalist design, a sound partially motivated by his fixation with acidity house. Actually, the case may be produced that Reece’s music isn’t jungle in any way, since the majority of his is better than are quite continuous. It is just the casual percussion break and offbeat rimshots that spin his function into jungle place. Whether he’s a junglist or a residence maven, Reece cemented his popularity quite nicely with extra recordings as Jazz Juice (for Precious Components), Lunar Funk (for Mo’Wax), and the initial Playboy (for R&S). In early 1996, he arrived a major-label offer when Isle recruited him because of their Quango subsidiary. His debut recording So Far premiered in Sept 1996. As the recording was received well generally in most circles, the jungle underground — led by Goldie — got virtually disowned Reece by that point, disgusted along with his “industrial” leanings.
