Alex Moore

b. 11 November 1899, Dallas, Tx, USA, d. 20 January 1989, Dallas, Tx, USA. A lifelong individualist and eccentric, Moore arrived in later existence to be seen as a patriarch of Tx piano blues, although his inspirational technique wilfully prevented categorization. He was raised in Freedman’s City, a portion of Dallas where in fact the kids of slaves congregated. He became thinking about piano while operating like a delivery young man for a supermarket, and created his style within the dives and whorehouses of north Dallas. He documented six game titles for Columbia Information in Dec 1929, like the 1st edition of ‘Blue Bloomer Blues’, and documented this blues once again for Decca in Feb 1937. With regular effort, he financed his very own session, documenting eight titles, which just two were afterwards issued on record. A program for RPM in 1951 yielded five game titles, two issued about the same, another on record. In July 1960, Chris Strachwitz and Paul Oliver documented him thoroughly for Arhoolie Information and Oliver’s ‘Interactions WITH ALL THE Blues’ task. He was an associate from the 1969 American Folk Blues Celebration tour of European countries and documented another record in Stuttgart, Germany. Through the entire 70s he was an attribute of the celebration circuit. In 1987 he received an eternity Achievement Award through the Country wide Endowment for the Arts. 2 yrs later, he documented his last record for Rounder. Idiosyncratic to the finish, he was coming back house from a domino video game on the Martin Luther Ruler Center in south Dallas and passed away in the bus, operating at the front end, no doubt.
