Alex Goldfarb

Located in Minneapolis, Alex Goldfarb is definitely cut from your same singer/songwriter cloth as Tim Buckley, Greg Brown, and Rickie Lee Jones. After leading to a stir using the underground folk picture having a self-titled debut cassette, Goldfarb was authorized by fellow vocalist/songwriter Forest Sun’s indie label, Painted Sunlight, which released Goldfarb’s sophomore work, MAGNIFIER, in June of 2000. Also made by Sun, MAGNIFIER was recorded inside a secluded portion of North California, and proves to be always a fine display for Goldfarb’s deeply effective vocals, life-examining lyrics, and percussive acoustic guitar design, as the recording features accompaniment by additional tools — mandolin, Rhodes piano, and percussion (which had been manned by Sunlight). Goldfarb’s live display is dependant on spontaneity (and frequently fueled by target audience involvement), as he performs single and with others nearly equally, within the phases of cabarets and dance clubs in Minneapolis, aswell as an appearance in the 2000 Winnipeg Folk Event.
