Imaad Wasif was touring with Lowercase when he met Russell Pollard in 1999. Pollard was using Sebadoh at that time, and both became fast close friends. Within a yr, Pollard and Wasif remaining their respective rings and recovened in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA to create Alaska. The duo produced an icy awesome, layered indie rock and roll sound. Displays with Mia Doi Todd, the Folk Implosion, the Flaming Lip area, and Beachwood Sparks allowed Alaska to check their materials. By 2002, Alaska experienced a cope with B-Girl Information. Their debut recording, Emotions, premiered in Feb 2003 and previous Crimson Aunts drummer Lesley Ishino became a member of them for any UNITED STATES tour.
