Aina may be the name directed at both an recording, 2004’s Aina: Times of Growing Doom — The Metallic Opera, and a global collective of music artists championed by multi-instrumentalist Robert Hunecke-Rizzo (Luca Turilli, Rhapsody, Kamelot). Along with maker Sascha Paeth, keyboardist and arranger Miro, and vocalist and lyricist Amanda Somerville, the Aina task boasts a thorough cast of individuals drawn in the hard rock and roll and metal neighborhoods, including Glenn Hughes (Deep Crimson, Dark Sabbath, etc.), Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween), Andre Matos (ex-Angra), Candace Evening (Blackmore’s Evening), Sass Jordan, Jens Johansson (Stratovarius, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio, etc.), Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Movie theater), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia), Marco Hietala (NightWish), and so many more. Painstakingly set up in 2003, the epic function that’s Aina: Times of Increasing Doom — The Steel Opera was touted as the world’s initial legitimate rock opera, and premiered early another year by Transmitting/The End Information.
