Aias

With swirling guitar, pastoral-meets-Phil Spector harmonies, and a dash of tape hiss, Aias is Spain’s response to the female-centric noise pop explosion. The Barcelona-based trio, made up of vocalist/guitarist Gaia Bihr, vocalist/bassist Miriam Garcia, and vocalist/drummer Laia Aubia, created on the whim to try out at a friend’s party. Originally designed to be considered a one-off task — the users had been empowered by their fresh creative store and influenced by viewing like-minded Vivian Ladies at this year’s 2009 Primavera Audio music event — and required to a remote control town in Catalonia with Cristian Pallej? (Nisei, Sedaiós) to produce a record. The music group became a member of the Captured Songs roster this year 2010, liberating a 7” and recording A la Piscina later on that year.
