Afu-Ra

From his 1994 breakout on Jeru the Damaja’s “Mental Stamina,” Afu-Ra has fused classic East Coast hardcore using the sensitive, intelligent wordplay anticipated from a committed Rastafarian. He began much like every other young NY rapper, though his rhymes impressed Jeru the Damaja more than enough to add him on his debut. Learning to be a Jeru protégé (just like Jeru had produce Gang Starr), Afu-Ra made an appearance on the next Jeru record (Wrath from the Math) aswell, but moved from his very own for the 1998 one “Whirlwind Thru Metropolitan areas,” an underground preferred. Body of the life span Push, his debut recording, made an appearance in 2000, boasting features for GZA and Cocoa Brovaz. Afu-Ra connected support with Gang Starr’s DJ Leading (who’d helmed a number of Jeru paths) for 2002’s Existence Force Radio.
