The Pioneers, founded within the ’80s, play ’50s and ’60s South African jazz, wanting to recreate the fun of this era’s live performances. Led by sax participant Ntemi Piliso, a practiced marabi superstar, the group comprises both veteran marabi players and young musicians who’ve found the style.
