Adventures in Stereo

The sampling project Activities in Stereo system formed from your ashes from the short-lived 4AD label band Spirea X, including vocalist Judith Boyle and former Primal Scream member Jim Beattie. The duo created Adventures in Stereo system in the middle-’90s with Simon Dine, who produced the group’s music — lady group-inspired miniatures similar to the task of Stereolab or Broadcast — exclusively with an Akai sampler, building tunes from obscure and unrecognizable loops. After Activities in Stereo released two acclaimed EPs, the band’s background became convoluted: Dine break up from your group, but both celebrations kept working beneath the AIS name. In 1997, early recordings and unreleased materials were released on the self-titled LP on Scotland’s Creeping Bent label, while a likewise packaged assortment of Dine’s following work was released a short while later, also beneath the name Adventures in Stereo system and on the Underground Seems imprint. The Boyle/Beattie device came back in 1998 with Alternate Stereo Seems. Their second U.S. launch, Monomania, followed 2 yrs later.
