Progress Bottom is a task helmed by indie pop vocalist/songwriter Owen Ashworth, previously known for his long-running indie electronic clothing Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Blessed in Redwood Town, California in 1977, Ashworth started producing lo-fi pop music on inexpensive Casio keyboards in 1997, merging wry and bitter however heartfelt and earnest lyricism with shiny, basic melodies. Through the span of five full-length albums (all released by German indie label Tomlab) aswell as much singles and EPs, CftPA demonstrated a remarkable creative growth, with more and more ambitious creation and arrangements, aswell as music that sometimes rivaled the Magnetic Areas’ Stephin Merritt at his greatest. The critically acclaimed recording continued to record Ashworth’s growth like a songwriter and arranger, offering more detailed creation and increased using piano and autoharp furthermore to keyboards and drum devices.
