Adele Girard

Most likely the greatest jazz harpist ever, Adele Girard showed that it had been possible to swing very difficult about that angelic instrument; just the little-known Casper Reardon experienced preceded her. Girard used Harry Sosnick’s music group and in 1937, she became a member of clarinetist Joe Marsala’s combo, marrying him the same yr. Her golf swing and Dixieland recordings with Marsala in the 1930s and ’40s (although relatively obscure) are impressive to listen to today. Small was noticed from Girard following the middle-’50s, but she surfaced in 1992 to record an excellent recording with Bobby Gordon for Arbors.
