Acid Bath

While they didn’t gain a lot more when compared to a cult following throughout their presence, Louisiana’s Acid Bath has since attained a somewhat legendary position within the darker edges of the rock and roll/metallic underground. Their design — a mixture of Dark Sabbath-like sludge, bluesy Southern rock and roll, death metallic, hardcore, and suggestions of goth and commercial — remains hard to pigeonhole, having elicited evaluations to everyone from fellow Bayou-dwellers Soilent Green and Eyehategod to much less extreme acts such as for example Alice in Stores, Soundgarden, and ’90s-period Corrosion of Conformity. Created in 1991, the Kenner, L.A.-centered group contains Dax Riggs (vocals), Mike Sanchez (guitar, backing vocals), Sammy Pierre Duet (guitar, backing vocals), Audie Pitre (bass, backing vocals), and Jimmy Kyle (drums). They documented their first demonstration, Hymns from the Needle Freak, by using producer/supervisor Keith Falgout. This resulted in a cope with California’s Rotten Information, which released the band’s debut Compact disc in 1994. Entitled Once the Kite String Pops, the recording was made by D.R.We.’s Spike Cassidy and presented artwork by infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy. 2 yrs later, Acid Shower returned using the Falgout-produced Paegan Terrorism Techniques, this time having a painting by suicide doctor Jack port Kevorkian gracing the cover. This recording leaned in a far more melodic hard rock and roll path, while still having a weighty dose of the type of menacing metallic that characterized a lot of Once the Kite String Pops. Both these albums earned reviews that are positive, however, neither were able to create the band everything that well beyond their home condition and its encircling area. Sadly, before these were able to discharge any more materials, bassist Pitre was wiped out within a drunk-driving incident (another driver was responsible). This successfully brought Acidity Bath’s career to some close — rumours of another record circulated for some time, but ultimately nothing at all else surfaced. Riggs and Sanchez continued to create the band Real estate agents of Oblivion, while Duet became a member of fellow Louisiana steel clothing Crowbar on electric guitar furthermore to developing the black metallic group Goatwhore. In the mean time, Rotten Information maintained its programs to release a house video offering live performances combined with the video for Once the Kite String Pops’ “Toubabo Koomi.”
