Formed within the mid-’80s by identical twins Alvin and Calvin Dark (their real last name is usually “Waters”), this Macon, GA, group was among the last self-contained R&B teams, alongside Mint Condition and Tony! Toni! Firmness! However, AC Dark was less effective. The group performed in Georgia and encircling states, getting a following predicated on their high energy choreographed shows. AC Dark presented a powerfully soulful business lead vocalist, Kelvin Jones, a talented multi-instrumentalist, Tracey Orr, along with a keyboardist/programmer, Brian Haught. Authorized by Taj/Motown Information, AC Dark released their only recording in 1989. The self-titled recording featured a hit, “Funky Scenario,” but didn’t reach a considerable target audience.
