Absynthe Minded

Originally a solo vehicle for lead vocalist Bert Ostyn, Belgian outfit Absynthe Minded afterwards expanded to a quintet by adding violinist Renaud Ghilbert, pianist Jan Duthoy, bassist Sergej Van Bouwel, and drummer Jakob Nachtergaele. Pursuing 2003’s debut EP Background Makes Research Fiction, they continued to develop their particular fusion of ’30s jazz, funk-soul, Merseybeat, and Balkan pop on the first full-length record, Acquired Flavor, a year afterwards and implemented it up with 2005’s New Time, 2007’s THERE IS CERTAINLY Nothing at all, and 2009’s eponymous studio room effort. After putting your signature on to French label AZ, they released their first Western release, SINCE IT Ever Was, in 2012.
