Abstrakt Algebra

Having viewed the job of his longtime group, the legendary Candlemass, crumble before him, chief songwriter and bassist Leif Edling searched for solace in a fresh task he named Abstrakt Algebra. Enlisting vocalist Mats Leven (previously of Yngwie Malmsteen’s music group), guitarists Mike Wead (Ruler Gemstone, Hexenhaus), Simon Johansson (Fifth Cause, Memory Backyard), and drummer Jejo Perkovic to aid him, Edling appeared to carefully turn over a fresh ‘leif’ (obtain it?) — abandoning the slothful doom he’d always been connected with to embrace a quicker and quite specialized power metal design. The results, noticed over the band’s 1995’s eponymous discharge were interesting, however, not enough to help keep Edling from offering Candlemass another shot a couple of years later, and acquiring drummer Perkovic with him aswell.
